
Welcome to The Old Photo Shop.
The majority of the images you will find in this store have been made directly from the glass negatives and lantern slides that were originally taken during the latter part of the 19th century or the early part of the 20th century.
You will find images from the past of people and places, of animals and birds, of trains and boats and planes, and of hundreds of other interesting views of buildings, landscapes and living things.
Many of the photographs were taken by famous photographers of their day, like George Washington Wilson, Gambier Bolton, Graystone Bird, and Colin Lunn, but many more were taken by enthusiastic and highly skilled anonymous amateurs.
Great care is taken to establish the copyright-
The original glass plate is digitally scanned at very high resolution to enable high
magnification of the smallest detail. The image is printed using a high-
Two sizes of print are offered for each image, A4 and A3. Borders will depend on the proportions of the original photograph but the buyer will receive an untrimmed copy of the print on either A4 or A3 photographic paper.
